North Yorkshire
Ripley is a small parish approximately 4 miles north of Harrogate on the A61. Although the village and surrounding parish only has a population of around 200 it always has a lot going on.
Ripley Castle dating from the 15th century has been the home of the Ingilby family for 700 years and Sir Thomas Ingilby the present owner is the 28th generation to live there. The village was re-modelled in the 19th century but the Castle and Church were not affected by the reconstruction.
The village has a thriving community, with a 300 year old Church of England Endowed School, All Saints Church, the Boars Head Pub and Hotel and the Village Hall impressively called the Hotel de Ville. We also have an Art gallery, a village shop and Post Office, a butchers, a couple of gift shops and a cafe.
